Chainzaw Man

The story takes place in a world where demons are born from human fears.

Although they are generally dangerous and malevolent, humans can form contracts with demons to use some of their power.

Denji is a depressed young man who is trying to pay off his late father’s debt to the yakuza by selling several of his organs and working as a demon hunter.

Denji also has a demon dog named Pochita, who resembles a chainsaw and assists Denji in his work. Denji is tasked by the yakuza with killing a demon, but discovers a plot by the yakuza to let the demon kill him in exchange for his help.

Denji is killed and Pochita is seriously injured, but the two had previously made a deal that allows Pochita to merge with Denji, reviving him as a human-demon hybrid with Pochita’s chainsaw ability.

Chainzaw Man

Denji kills the demon that killed him and is approached by a team of government demon hunters.

As he has now become partially a demon, one of the team members, Makima, convinces Denji to become part of her demon hunting organization, to avoid being hunted by them.
